Algorithm Glitch

Like clockwork

life, too, goes around

repeating similar sounds

our mothers warned us about

but we don’t listen or prepare

because I want an experience

all my own

I want to crash head-on

and feel all of the joys

and heartaches

my own way

even if the algorithm never fails

and I could have taken cover

beside a green pasture

I need to feel the muck and mire

between my toes

to be uncomfortable for a minute

making a mess of life

adding character to it

before it circles back again
